Way back in the 1940's in a field near the county road, right here on what we call Cedar Mountain Farm, a big hay barn was built.  The builders painted it in a traditional farm fashion--red.  We know that it wasn't painted again between 1950 and the time it blew down in a storm during the late 1980's.  Typical farmers, we salvaged barn wood from the "Old Red Barn" and reused the now well-weathered panels on the sides of other barns here on the farm.  As we worked to finish a basement room in the main cabin, we remembered that a bit of that siding remained. The last unused boards from the original Old Red Barn now grace the Red Barn Room.  The floor likewise reflects our thrifty nature--most of the tiles were leftovers from the rest of the house.
