Ski Resorts
Whether you're a beginner seeking the best bunny hill or a seasoned
skier looking for fresh powder challenge, you'll find great snow,
inspiring scenery, and wonderful friendly people at our four nearby ski
areas.
Looking for the best powder ever? Try Lookout. This
mountain lies on the Montana/Idaho border. Hence you have your
choice of tackling the Idaho face or the Montana face! We love
Lookout because it is such a family friendly spot. It's moderate
size makes it tough to loose your kids.
The drive to Lookout stays on I 90 east from Coeur d'Alene. The
parking area and lodge are just 1/4 mile off the freeway!
Plenty of cross country skiing here as well as downhill. We
usually have special rates for Lookout for our guests. Lookout
holds a special place in my (Daryl's) heart because it is where I first
tried downhill skiing (at age 50 no less!).
Want to ride the world's longest gondola? Head east of Coeur
d'Alene to Kellogg and get on board the gondola for Silver Mountain.
You'll gently glide over one hill, then down over the town of Wardner
before beginning the ascent to the lodge on Silver Mountian. From
there multiple lifts take you to various parts of this large ski area.
Perhaps gorgeous views of Lake Pend Oreille are what you prefer.
Then a short drive from the farm to Sandpoint and Schweitzer Mountain
will surely suffice. This mountain has it all--great bunny hill,
long cat track, and runs galore for everyone! We recommend a stop at a
Sandpoint eatery to recharge your food needs before you return.
Sandpoint is full of great restaurants.
Want to add a fourth ski area to your list? Mount Spokane (visible
from our own Bunco Road) provides a family friendly ,moderately sized area
It is located west and
north of our farm in Washington state.
