Howdy! I’m Al.
Welcome to our 3rd generation
working family farm
Al building the bunkhouse, our first family cabin (now the Bunkhouse) circa 1978.
First date at the University of Idaho.
A Bed and Breakfast on our family farm? Who was thinking of B & B’s and agritourism in 1950 when Dad and Mom Hatch purchased Cedar Mountain Farm? This perfect spot midway between Sandpoint and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho was my (Daryl’s) home from age 4 until I went to college. I met Al at the University of Idaho (an Illinois boy who came out west to study forestry) where we attended the same church. One day Al asked me if I was walking home alone after church. “Yes,” I replied. “You’re not anymore,” was his romantic come back. (Now-a-days we drive home from Anthem Friend’s Church in Hayden Lake. Too far to walk!)
We married in 1967. Al served the next five years in the Air Force. I completed my Music degree at USC in Los Angeles. (That was a big city experience for a farm girl!) After leaving the Air Force, Al studied two more years for a Masters In Outdoor Recreation in Fort Collins, Colorado. I milked cows on a dairy farm in exchange for housing in the country!
Our next stop…North Idaho. In 1974 we settled here at the base of Cedar Mountain. I’ve milked cows and goats, made cheeses and soaps, and love to garden. Al has selectively logged the forest land of our farm. Seven grown children call Cedar Mountain “home.” We hand crafted the log cabins from timber harvested off the property with lots of help from family and friends. You might say that Cedar Mountain Farm Bed & Breakfast is a built with love from the ground up!
A Bed and Breakfast on our family farm? We couldn’t be happier! What a blessing to be visited almost every week either by a new comer or a guest who has become a friend and returned to stay again. We delight in welcoming you to this magical corner of the world we love and call home.

Cedar Mountain Farm and Daryl Kyle have been a part of the North Idaho Community 74 years. It is with the greatest sorrow that we bring you this post.
Sad news: Our beloved Daryl Ann Kyle passed away peacefully on 2023 August 28, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Her husband and family were with her. Daryl's death was unexpected; she was diagnosed at the hospital with leukemia.
Daryl was an angel disguised as a loving, spunky farm girl. Her specialties included raising children and a multitude of farm animals, and she wasn't afraid to get dirty chasing down either variety. Our hearts are broken but she would encourage us to be thankful for the time we had together, to love and laugh and help one another. She was without judgment, but rather devoted her life to the care and well being of her many flocks and anyone in need.
Blessings,
Daryl's Family
